1. About Ember Budget

Ember Budget ("Ember") is a personal budgeting app that helps couples and households split bills, track spending, and manage shared finances. It is operated by Nico Green, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. Ember is currently in public beta โ€” it is actively being developed and improved.

2. Beta Software

Ember is beta software. That means:

We will try to give you reasonable notice of significant changes or shutdowns where possible, but we cannot commit to it during the beta period.

3. Not Financial Advice

Ember helps you record and view your own budget data. It is a tool for your personal organisation โ€” nothing more. Nothing in Ember constitutes financial advice, tax advice, or any other regulated advice.

You are solely responsible for your own financial decisions. Do not rely on Ember's calculations or displays as a substitute for professional financial guidance.

4. Your Data

Ember stores only what you enter manually. It does not connect to your bank account, access open banking APIs, or pull in any transaction data from external sources. The accuracy of what appears in Ember is entirely down to what you type in.

See our Privacy Policy for full details of what data we hold and how we handle it.

5. Acceptable Use

By using Ember you agree not to:

6. Account Termination

During the beta, Nico Green may suspend or permanently revoke your access if you breach these terms or for any other reason. We will try to give you notice where practical.

You can request deletion of your account and data at any time by emailing n2buildz@gmail.com from the address you used to sign up. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle deletion requests.

7. Liability

Ember is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind โ€” express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, Nico Green is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or financial losses arising from your use of Ember or your inability to use it. This includes losses arising from inaccurate budget data, reliance on Ember's calculations, or service downtime.

Ember is currently free to use during the beta. Accordingly, if a liability cap applied, it would be nil (no fees have been paid). If paid plans are introduced in the future, liability will be capped at the total fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Intellectual Property

Ember โ€” including the app, its design, branding, and any original content โ€” is owned by Nico Green. All rights reserved.

You own your own data. The budget entries, transactions, and other information you add to Ember belong to you. Ember does not claim any ownership over what you input.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email. Continuing to use Ember after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

Minor changes (formatting, clarifications that do not affect your rights) may be made without notification.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Ember will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
